Strategies for offense and defense in global capital markets
Jun 18, 2015
This is an article that deals with hostilities within global capital markets. What is conveys in the following. A war is waged within global capital markets that is just as violent as the physical one. The difference is the type of violence and the ultimate physical and nonphysical impact.Bloodletting gives way to financial resource destruction and demolishing of infrastructure is substituted by the destruction of assets, markets, institutions, jobs and ultimately individuals. Why?? A prime trigger is instability in global capital markets at players, instruments, monitors and regulators levels. Strategies of aggression take a variety of forms starting with inconsistent capital flows and competitive devaluations to conditionalities, logistic firewalls and vulture capitalist practices among others. Defense? Possible but constrained. Capital controls, reserve accumulation and sound banking system could help. Some of those could be described as protective and the others as preemptive. Preemptive measures could possibly prevent the onslaught and protective measures may provide a response.
Lecture at a Conference "The spirit of entrepreneurship - the values in leadership"

On April 22, 2015, a Conference "The Spirit of Entrepreneurship - the value in leadership." took place in Zagreb. Special guest of the conference was Sir Isaac Tigrett, founder and creator of the world's famous chain Hard Rock Café and House of Blues. Professor. dr. Velimir Srića was the guest lecturer and he also moderated a panel discussion. The title of his lecture was "Harmonious leadership - a new paradigm" based on his new book "In Search of Harmony in a Disharmonious World Leadership Manual for Change Agents And Dreamers"
The participants in the panel discussion titled "Entrepreneurial spirit based on 3E (ethics, ecology, economy) were: Gordana Kovacevic (the CEO of Ericsson Nikola Tesla), Dr. Elvira Mlivić Budeš (the founder of Filaks), Goran Becker (HAMAG -BICRO), mag. Lenja Faraguna, a marketing expert from Slovenia, Prof. dr Vladmir Gruden, a distinguished professor of psychology and Goran Pejaković, an ecologic activist. Professor Luk Bouckaert, from KU Leuven, the President of SPES Forum, also participated at the conference with a lecture on the topic "Why do we need spiritually based leadership in business?".

Scientific Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
Sunday, June 14, 2015
With the evolution in data storage, large databases have stimulated researchers from many areas, especially machine learning and statistics, to adopt and develop new techniques for data analysis in different fields of science. In particular, there have been notable successes in the use of statistical, computational, and machine learning techniques to discover scientific knowledge in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. With the recent advances in ontologies and knowledge representation, automated scientific discovery (ASD) has further, great prospects in the future.
The contributions in this book provide the reader with a complete view of the different tools used in the analysis of data for scientific discovery. Gaber has organized the presentation into four parts: Part I provides the reader with the necessary background in the disciplines on which scientific data mining and knowledge discovery are based. Part II details applications of computational methods used in geospatial, chemical, and bioinformatics applications. Part III is about data mining applications in geosciences, chemistry, and physics. Finally, in Part IV, future trends and directions for research are explained.
The book serves as a starting point for students and researchers interested in this multidisciplinary field. It offers both an overview of the state of the art and lists areas and open issues for future research and development.
"This conference is an opportunity for self-advocates, families, and professionals to share the creative ways that individualized funding can be used and I am so excited at the prospect of learning from others." - Parent in Victoria, BC, Canada
Come be part of this international movement for transformative social change
With the passage of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, self-determination, personalization and individualized funding initiatives have a new foundation upon which to build. In countries all over the world, these initiatives are transforming the lives of people with disabilities. Like the shift from institutions to community services, these initiatives are a momentous step forward in assisting people with disabilities and seniors achieve meaningful and rewarding lives as full citizens.
At this conference, an international gathering of researchers, policy makers, government representatives, service providers, agency administrators, as well as advocates and allies from the community living, independent living, and seniors sectors, will be coming together to:
Share lessons learned and create a road map for the effective implementation of self-determination, personalization, individualized funding and supported decision making initiatives Hear stories of the transformative power that these initiatives have had on the lives of people with disabilities Foster cooperative networks across jurisdictions, sectors and interests that will continue after the conference
