About Technische Universität Darmstadt, Institute of Electromechanical Design
Research Key Aspects
The Institute EMK is engaged in research and development of systems in micro- and precision engineering. These are based on electromagnetic interactions and can by applied in devices, assemblies, and components. Above all, the design principles, design methodology, and production technologies are emphasized.
The Institute EMK consits of three laboratories: Microtechnology and Electromechanical Systems (M+EMS, Prof. Schlaak), Measurement- and Sensor Technology (MuST, Prof. Werthschützky), and Lighting Technology (LT, Prof. Khanh).
At the M+EMS Lab the main focus is put on Micromechtronics, Electroactive Polymers, and Microsystem Technology.
At the MuST Lab haptic perception, industrial sensors for high and differential pressure sensors, and micro sensors for strain, force, and pressure are of main interest.
At the LT Lab research topics in the field of LED-based light sources and light perceprion, especially in the field of automotive and ambient lightening, are emphasized. In Addition to the individual research projects of each laboratory, inter-lab projects are being worked on.
A detailed overview of ongoing research projects and results can also be found in the Institute's reseach report (in German only).
